Through the Rabbit Hole [info]crowdedhour

Kate sat in the grass, the pad on her knee as she worked on the tree. She’d gotten very good at creating differing shades of gray with her #2 pencil. Watching Basil sketch was oddly comforting, a lot like the man himself.

Bottom line, after all was said and done, there were things she had to create closure and avoiding Sawyer wasn’t one of them.

It only took her five tries to write the note, facing him wasn’t something she wanted to do, particularly since she’d made every effort not to see him.

Meditation [info]crowdedhour

Pout-y pink lips opened, lids closed as her mouth expanded in an ugly yawn, face contorted and scrunched up as the relief released throughout her body in relaxation. Kate really wasn’t sleepy, more meditative.

It was a pure accident that she learned Jack was here. He’d either left, was dead or avoiding her, the first was her choice, the one her brain clung to so she could deal with life in this castle. Not that life here was horrible, not in terms of comforts. The opportunity for time traveling excited Kate, it hit her wondering spirit, yet Marco changed her. It wasn’t a physical thing, it was the opposite.

Thinking about her new friend she sat there lazily in the sun.

She should be scared but she wasn’t. Nomadic my nature, staying at one place was difficult for her. Kate had to get out of the castle, even if there were monster snakes and who knew what outside was roaming around outside, she did know there were also monsters on the inside. Generally easy-going the entire plague changed her, the way she thought about life, not the way she was wired. As she spend those hours out in the boundaries of her world, she missed the island as stupid as that sounded.

Based on Juliet’s example; Kate didn’t climb the trees ... for now. She needed to see Jack, not in that desperate I’m in love with you, but the desperation wondering if someone you loved were still alive. Kate loved Jack and she always would. She didn’t think there would ever be anyone she’d love like she loved Tom. But there was, in fact she’d loved three more men. One she married, one was getting married and the other ....? The other one, he was the difference. Kate realized of all them she’d been in love with two. The first was dead, and it was Kate’s fault.

The second, she would find eventually, confident in the fact that she could move forward. First she needed to clear her head. Packing a bit more fire power than usual, Kate left the castle.

Dog Day Afternoon [info]crowdedhour

Characters: Kate
Rating: TBD
Time Period: After Dog is Dead [future current}]
Location: Outside the castle in the melting snow.
Relative Date: Current
Status: Open

Kate found pristine snow that was hard to do. It would be an easy thing to find Kate, all one had to do was follow her tracks. Having to argue about killing a dog, after everything it left a bad tasted in her mouth. It wasn’t that she didn’t understand or respect their opinions; after everything Kate had been through it just seemed so pointless. Everything here did.

Once again she wanted to say goodbye to the snow. Not as playful this time, Kate was carefully walking, like a lone child hunting for a playmate. At times she matched her prints with other footprints, wandering about the people leaving them. She sent out vibes to the universe, no Sawyer, no Juliet. Not today, it would make her mood fall.

Pulling off her coat, like a monkey she was up the tree, the only sign she was there the coat on the ground, and of course the footsteps in the melting snow.

Prompt 227 Ten Things I Do In the Morning [info]thetenspot

1. I lie in bed, staring at the ceiling centering myself for the day.

2. - 4.After using the bathroom, I get a morning snack and then brush my teeth. I’d brush them first – actually then making it twice in the morning – if I had reason.

5.Showering, I can’t get enough of it. I’m not phobic, it comes from living on an island and not having that luxury, I don’t take as many things for granted anymore – not that I really ever did. My life is a rap sheet – literally.

6.I usually just grab stuff to wear; I don’t put much thought into it.

7. Then I have to walk, I can’t stand being confined, on more than one occasion it’s occurred to me that I am better suited for life on an island.

8. Then I work. I don’t have to work; Oceanic took care of that little necessity. Rather I volunteer.

9. Every day, without fail, there is the regret moment. Sometime during the day when a thought leads me down a memory trail that I wish I hadn’t.

10. Then I lose myself in something, a book, another walk, music – I just need to be lost and away from myself.

The rest of the day – well depends on the day.

Starve a Cold Feed A Fever [info]crowdedhour

Cooking and Kate not two things that went together, she’d managed a few things over the years, but never had that signature dish. Looking through drawers she began rattling around through the kitchen.

Two things bothered her: where were all the people? From the party, Kate realized there were tons of people she wasn’t meeting and the second question was in a similar vein. There were similarities between the island and the Castle, at least in Kate’s eyes. To the felon they both appeared to be living entities. Who brought in the food? Why these people? Could this be a progression off the island to something worse? That didn’t seem likely.

Pulling out a heavy pot, it clanked on the stove, Kate crinkled up her nose, standing there looking out at the snow, she began to put two and two together. She’d been too concerned about other things, and not what was going on around her, it was time for Kate to check back into her life. It didn’t change her epiphany; instead it made her a little more proactive.

By Jack’s side, and some thanks to Juliet, Kate learned to be a good nurse. Something was keeping people away.

Food was in order first, then figuring out how to help, something was going on here and she wasn’t going to let the Castle dictate what she did.

Snow Angel [info]crowdedhour

Snow, to Kate it was this elusive magical creature that blanketing the ground with invisible diamonds. Something about it always made Kate feel better; not that she’d encountered it many times before, the only things she knew for sure: don’t eat the yellow parts and it would eventually fade.

Possibly it was living on the island under the relentless heat, maybe it was the fact that all things are fleeting. If Kate had learned anything by now, it was not to have regrets. Perhaps it was because she was incredibly lonely, even for her new friends. The probability was she was Castle-bound and needed some alone time.

Searching she found adequate clothes, her outlandish winter outfit made her look all the more beautiful.

Like a child she walked outside, looking for that perfect place. She chose not to wander far, and to talk the opposite way than she’d first come to the Castle.

Not far, there was a snow bank calling her name. Taking a few steps back, she ran jumping into the mound. Stupid really, there could have many any number of things that could injure her. Luck was on her side. Standing, she moved to a pristine part of the snow, carefully she lay down creating a snow angel.
